Energy is vital to show up and perform world-class every day! Hence protecting our Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual energies become super important. If you often feel low on will and don’t want to get up to the speed, here are 5 keys that will not only help to increase your energies but also protect them.
Throughout this article, we’ll be denoting tasks/items/things which pump energy into you as “Batteries” (which charges you with more energy) and the opposite as “Black Holes” (which drains energy from you).
1. Information that you consume
Have you ever noticed how a single piece of bulletin running on News changes your energy? Scrolling through Instagram Posts and suddenly bumped up on something which shifts your energy. In today’s world when we are consuming data more than what the entire humankind did so far, we need to put solid guardrails to allow things that make us feel good & act as batteries to fill more energy rather than toiling us mentally and emotionally. This would be the best time to unfollow things/people who don’t add value to you, your loved ones and aim not to consume/carry information that might not help you in any way within the next one month or so.
2. Time you spend with people
I think we all have been in situations where a 20-minute talk with a person feels like you were talking for 20 hours & the 21st minute when the chat ended, you feel completely drained. On the contrary, we have people with whom even spending 10 minutes gives us a new wave of energy, motivates us to push further. The next time when you meet or chat with someone, look if they are batteries or black holes. Remember, we should be spending less time/no time with people who feel like black holes to us.
3. Food that you eat
We talked about information that you consume; which is for the brain, now we’ll talk about food that we eat; which is for the body, and how it can impact our energies throughout the day. Technically the food we consume should provide energy to push things further, right? But most of us end up feeling drowsy after a nice (black hole) lunch, which points that we might not be eating the “Right” food. We should pay close attention to things we are consuming and refrain from those items which (after consuming) let us feel low and sleepy. In addition, I would suggest everyone should get a Blood Panel done and further consult the doctor to get the doses of vitamins and supplements (this has a direct and visible impact on your mental and physical capacities).
4. Force body movement
Force yourself to get up whenever you procrastinate to going for a morning jog, doing dishes, chores or any other physical movement. Remember, the more we work out more energy the body will produce. It has also been observed that exercising daily produces norepinephrine, which activates peak concentration and serotonin which reduces stress, hence putting you in a state with a high level of energy, concentration and reduced stress, which further boost you to produce anything not less than world-class in your field. So anytime you feel low, get up and go for a walk! (why not right after this article? :D)
5. Change the music, change the energy
We all know that music is nothing but vibrations which is a form of energy. That’s why Gyms, Fitness centres have EDM level music playing which pushes individuals to pump up and do that extra set. (Similarly) Next time you visit Spa or Salon, you know the reason why they have acoustics in the background, as they want you to relax and probably end up adding a head massage along with the hair cut (win-win for both, no?). Moving now when you feel low on energy, skip to something rocky or try adding EDMs to your (battery) playlist!
That’s all! In future editions, I’ll try to explore more about body movement and its direct impact on mental health, also explore consuming things (information) the right way! Please drop below (in comments) as what works for you the best (looking forward to seeing things which aren’t aforementioned) 🙂
